One person remains in critical condition after a boating accident involving a U.S. Border Patrol vessel on the Colorado River in Yuma. Yuma County Sheriff’s officials say seven people were aboard a private boat that collided with a Border Patrol vessel that was patrolling the river last Saturday night.
Three people from the privately-owned boat were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for injuries, one of whom was later flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix for life-threatening injuries. That person is in stable but critical condition at this time. There were no reported injuries on the Border Patrol vessel.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
