420 Drug Test

According to a report released by the CDC, in 2011, Arizona students ranked #1 for students who were given drugs, sold drugs or offered drugs at school. Specifically, the study found that high school students in Arizona ranked #2 in the nation for cocaine use and fell within the top seven states in the country for use of marijuana, inhalants, heroin, methamphetamine and steroids.

Why?

According to the study, many Arizona students have easy access to parent’s prescription and illegal drugs and live in close proximity to Mexico where drug trafficking has become incredibly common.

What can we do to Discourage Drug Use in Our Children?

As Parents, we need first and foremost to be aware of the prevalence of drug use, and the peer pressure our children face daily. We also need to take the lead on educating ourselves and our children about the potential repercussions of drug use.

In particular, parents need to be aware of the upcoming drug “holiday,” 420. 420 takes place on April 20th and has become a holiday in which people gather to consume and celebrate marijuana. Use of the term 420 began in 1971 among a group of California teenagers and quickly became code for getting high at a specific time of day.

How can we discourage drug use on 420 in Particular?

(1)  Encourage your children to say “No” to the peer pressure to use drugs.

(2)  Familiarize yourself with drug use signs and symptoms.

(3)  Make family plans for “drug holidays” such as 420 to keep your child busy and away from the pressure to use drugs.

(4)  Pick up an at home drug testing kit from one of the Arizona locations below and encourage your children to use the fear of being caught as an “excuse” not to do drugs with friends.
