Merck & Co, the manufacturer of Propecia is defending an increasing number of lawsuits brought by men contending that they have suffered irreversible sexual side effects from the male patterned baldness medication. As of February 2013, there have been over 390 filed lawsuits.
A Florida man filed a lawsuit in December 2012 contending that Propecia caused persistent sexual side effects. In November 2012, a Propecia lawsuit was filed by a male Plaintiff claiming that he had taken the drug from 2003 until 2007 and today suffers from sexual dysfunction. These are two examples of the increased pace of Propecia lawsuit filings.
Initially label warnings for Propecia claimed that only a few men experienced any sexual side effects while taking Propecia and that the side effects went away after the medicine was stopped. In 2012, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) required a warning label change to Propecia to warn that these sexual side effects may persistent after cessation of the drug.
