The Post-Finasteride Syndrome (PFS) is a term coined for a clinical sexual disorder afflicting men who used Propecia or Proscar. PFS is associated with a cluster of symptoms that men have experienced following treatment with Propecia or Proscar. The generic component of both medications is finasteride. The Post Finasteride Syndrome Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 for the purpose of raising funds to support medical research into PFS. This foundation will be sponsoring a roundtable discussion on PFS at the University of Milan’s 7th International Meeting on Steroids and the Nervous System conference on February 19, 2013 in Torino, Italy.
Speakers at the event include:
- Roberto Melcangi, UM’s Institute of Endocrinology
- Giancarlo Panzica, University of Torino
- Abdulmaged M. Traish, Boston University School of Medicine
PFS is a disorder characterized by sexual, neurological, hormonal, and psychological side effects persisting in men who have taken the medication finasteride to treat male patterned baldness, (Propecia) or treat an enlarged prostate, (Proscar.) Symptoms of PFS may include erectile dysfunction, severe depression, and cognitive impairment, loss of libido, impotence, penile shrinkage, and gynecomastia.
PFS can have a life-altering impact on victims and their families. Sexual side effects are an understatement and minimize the serious injury that has become the reality of men who treated with these finasteride medications. Men who have taken the drugs Propecia or Proscar and suffered sexual problems may have a claim against Merck & Co., the manufacturer of both drugs. If a man has suffered any sexual related side effects while taking Propecia or Proscar, he should investigate whether he has a viable claim for sexual related injuries. Consulting an attorney knowledgeable about the Propecia litigation is critical in investigating a potential claim. Oracle Law Group is actively investigating Propecia and Proscar and offers a free consultation to men evaluating a potential claim. Call today for a free consultation.
