Juvenile Risk Assessment

The Administration Office of the Courts has implemented a risk assessment that is required for all juvenile’s prior to disposition.  There are a series of questions that the juvenile will be asked regarding his family, friends, substance abuse, values/beliefs, and pro-social decision making.  The answers are then used to calculate his estimated risk to reoffend.  The assessment is called the Arizona Youth Assessment System and was developed in Ohio.  Arizona has adopted the assessment and all Juvenile Courts in Arizona are using the tool.

The interview will take approximately 30-45 minutes and is conducted with just the juvenile.  There are no questions pertaining to his sexual past or sexual behavior, as that information is contained in the sexual risk assessment and is not included in this assessment.
