Tempe Shooting Injures 14

Three people allegedly open fired on a crowd outside The Clubhouse Bar in Tempe on Friday night, March 2nd. Approximately 300 people were waiting in line outside the club to see controversial rapper Nipsey Hussle. Fourteen people were injured in the attack. At least two of them were seriously injured and transported to the hospital. According to Twitter, hundreds of people “stampeded across Broadway” to escape from harm. One police officer reported that this was one of the largest shootings to ever occur in Tempe.

According to Tempe Police, the altercation started as an argument between some of the people in line for the concert. The police suspect the shooting was gang related. According to witnesses, members of multiple gangs were present.

One of the suspects was arrested on Saturday, March 3rd on 13 counts of aggravated assault and 1 count of assisting a street gang. Law enforcement is searching for the other 2 suspects. They are described as black men who were wearing dark clothes at the time of the attack. Police believe they reside in Phoenix.

This is not the first violent event at The Clubhouse. According to the Phoenix New Times, a stabbing occurred there in 2009.

All the suspects who are caught will face criminal charges for their alleged actions. They may also face civil lawsuits and be held financially responsible for all the damages they caused. This could include lawsuits from the injured persons for their medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering. They may also face civil lawsuits from The Clubhouse and Nipsey Hussle for lost earnings because the show did not proceed because of the shooting. The Clubhouse may also face civil charges from the victims if it failed to take measures to protect the safety of its patrons.
