Bicyclist Dies in Collision with Vehicle

According to Phoenix Police Spokesman Sergeant Steve Martos, fifty-seven-year-old (57) William Roy Piscilli died after colliding with a vehicle while riding his bike in Phoenix over the weekend.  On Saturday, at approximately 10 a.m., Mr. Piscilli was riding his bicycle heading westbound on Butler Drive.  When Mr. Piscilli approached the intersection at 35th Avenue, he failed to stop for a red light and crashed into a vehicle driven by a twenty-five-year-old (25) male heading northbound on 35th Avenue.  Sergeant Martos said Mr. Piscilli suffered serious injuries and was later pronounced dead.  Officers do not believe impairment was a factor in the accident.

A wrongful death lawsuit is a lawsuit brought by the survivors of a person who died as a result of the negligence of another such as a surviving spouse, a parent whose child has passed, or the personal representative of the decedent’s estate. A wrongful death lawsuit may involve multiple beneficiaries with recovery allocated among each of the beneficiaries based on the loss each person has suffered.  Finally, there are several different types of damages that may be awarded in a wrongful death lawsuit: (1) Loss of consortium which includes loss of love, affection, care, companionship, and guidance; (2) Pain and suffering which includes pain, grief, stress, shock, and anguish; (3) Loss of income; (4) Medical expenses; (5) Punitive damages.
