Man Dies in Dunne Buggy Accident
According to the Mohave County Sherriff’s Office, fifty-two-year-old (52) Michael Paul Wartman died in a dune buggy accident in the desert east of Lake Havasu City over the holiday weekend. On Friday afternoon, Mr. Wartman was driving the dune buggy with another man, fifty-two-year-old (52) Kenneth Paul Hopkins, and a woman, whose name has not been released, when the buggy fell off a twenty-five (25) foot cliff and landed upside down. The woman was transported to a hospital where she was treated for her injuries and then released. Mr. Hopkins was transported to University Medical Center in Las Vegas where he remains in critical condition. According to Sherriff’s Spokeswoman Trish Carter, Mr. Wartman was “doing doughnuts” and lost control of the buggy causing it to slide off the cliff. Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
