Motorcyclist Runs Stop Sign Killed in Accident

According to Mesa Police, thirty-six-year-old (36) Slamomir Peter Branka died Friday evening when his motorcycle collided with a Nissan Pathfinder in Mesa.  The accident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. near 80th Street and University Drive when Mr. Branka sped through a stop sign, skidded approximately 100 feet and struck the SUV as it was heading eastbound on University Drive.  Mesa Police said that Mr. Branka was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and may have been impaired.   Mr. Branka suffered severe head and bodily injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Police said a third vehicle, a white van, was also involved in the accident.  According to Police, the drivers of the SUV and the van were not injured.  After the accident, a man, whose name has not been released, informed Police that Mr. Branka had been drinking at his home prior to the accident.
