On Thursday afternoon, thirty-six-year-old (36) Michael Montoya and thirty-one-year-old (31) Anna Marie Montez were charged with burglary and unlawful flight from a police officer after an officer on patrol saw Mr. Montoya break the window of a vehicle on Invergordon Road in Paradise Valley. According to Paradise Valley Police Spokesman Commander Alan Laitsch, Mr. Montoya realized the officer saw him break the car window and jumped into the back seat of another vehicle driven by Ms. Montez. Commander Laitsch said the officer followed the vehicle for approximately a block when Mr. Montoya jumped out of the vehicle. Scottsdale Police, with the assistance of Phoenix Police, a K-9 Unit and a helicopter, eventually stopped the vehicle. Police later found Mr. Montoya hiding in the ceiling in a banquet room at the Scottsdale Camelback Resort on Camelback Road. Police recovered stolen property from this burglary and other burglaries in Phoenix and Scottsdale. The case is still under investigation.
