According to Surprise Police Department Spokesman Mark Ortega, thirty-seven-year-old (37) Sylvia Aranda was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of aggravated assault. On Friday afternoon, Ms. Aranda and her seventeen-year-old (17) daughter were arguing while driving in their vehicle. At some point during the argument, Ms. Aranda pulled over and allowed her daughter to exit the vehicle. Officer Ortega said Ms. Aranda then drove up onto the sidewalk and hit her daughter with the vehicle’s front passenger tire. Ms. Aranda left the scene but returned a short time later and was then arrested. Ms. Aranda’s daughter suffered minor injuries and was treated by the fire department. The teen was later released to a family member.
