Phoenix Police Officer Killed

Phoenix Police Officer shot, found dead near State Capitol

Phoenix Police Officer Sean Drenth was found dead near his police cruiser on October 18th.  Police officials said there were no signs of struggle and no other information had been disclosed.  Officer Drenth was found between 10pm and 11pm near the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.  Officer Drenth is the fourth officer this year that has been killed in the line of duty.  Officer Drenth was a twelve (12)-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department.  He first served in the Squaw Peak Precinct and then transferred to the South Mountain Precinct less than one week ago.  In 2003, Drenth received the Medal of Valor when he helped rescue people from a burning building.  The City of Phoenix is providing Officers with counseling.  Drenth is survived by his wife of 12 years Colleen Drenth.  Donations can be made to PPSLA, a fund created to help families of officers killed or injured in the line of duty.
