Teen driver causes fatal accident over the weekend

Last weekend a teenage driver with his learners permit caused a fatal car accident in central Phoenix. Police and emergency personnel responded to the wreck at 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Rd. It was not immediately known if the teen driver was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Police say the vehicle was driving eastbound on Bethany Home Rd. when the car crossed the median and struck a tree.

Neither passenger was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident but the driver of the vehicle was. One passenger died in the accident and another is listed in critical condition. Because the driver of the vehicle is a juvenile and is not being charged with any crimes his name will not be released.
